Bette Midler - Under the Boardwalk Lyrics
Oh, the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof. And your shoes get so hot, you wish your tired feet were fireproof. Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, on a blanket with my baby is where I'll be.
From the park you hear happy sounds from the carousel. You can almost taste the hot dogs and french fries they sell. Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, on a blanket with my baby is where I'll be.
Out of the sun. We'll be havin' some fun. People walkin' above. We'll be fallin' in love under the boardwalk, boardwalk.
Oooh, la la la la la la. Oooh, la la la la la la la la la. Help me somebody, sing some la la's with me. Under the night, under the stars by the raging sea.
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, the sea, on a blanket with my baby is where I'll be. On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be.
Out of the sun. We'll be havin' some fun. People walkin', walkin'. We'll be falling in love.
Out of the sun. We'll be havin' some fun. Everybody walkin', walkin', walkin'. We'll be under the boardwalk, boardwalk.
Bette Midler - Wind Beneath My Wings Lyrics
Ohhhh, oh, oh, oh, ohhh. It must have been cold there in my shadow, to never have sunlight on your face. You were content to let me shine, that's your way. You always walked a step behind.
So I was the one with all the glory, while you were the one with all the strain. A beautiful face without a name for so long. A beautiful smile to hide the pain.
Did you ever know that you're my hero, and everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
It might have appeared to go unnoticed, but I've got it all here in my heart. I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it. I would be nothing without you.
Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
Did I ever tell you you're my hero? You're everything, everything I wish I could be. Oh, and I, I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings, 'cause you are the wind beneath my wings.
Oh, the wind beneath my wings. You, you, you, you are the wind beneath my wings. Fly, fly, fly away. You let me fly so high. Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings. Oh, you, you, you, the wind beneath my wings.
Fly, fly, fly high against the sky, so high I almost touch the sky. Thank you, thank you, thank God for you, the wind beneath my wings.
Bette Midler - I've Still Got My Health Lyrics
I'm always a flop at a top-notch affair, but I've still got my health, so what do I care? My best ring, alas, is a glass solitaire, but I still got my health, so what do I care?
By fashion and foppery, I'm never discussed. Attending the opry, my box would be a bust. I never shall have that Park Avenue aire, but I'm in such health, why should I care?
The hip that I shake doesn't make people stare, but I got such health, what do I care? The sight of my props never stops a thoroughfare, but I still got my health, so what do I care?
Your face is your fortune, so some wise men spoke. My face is my fortune, that's why I'm totally broke. My ship ain't come in, but I grin while I bear, 'cause I got my vitamins: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H I still have my. Got no diamonds, got no wealth. I got no men, but I got my health.
Bette Midler - I Think It's Going to Rain Today Lyrics
Broken windows and empty hallways, a pale dead moon in a sky streaked with grey. Human kindness is overflowing, and I think it's gonna rain today.
Scarecrows dressed in the latest styles, the frozen smiles to chase love away. Human kindness is overflowing, and I think it's gonna rain today.
Lonely, lonely. Tin can at my feet, I think I'll kick it down the street. That's the way to treat a friend.
Bright before me the signs implore me: Help the needy and show them the way. Human kindness is overflowing, and I think it's gonna rain today.
Lonely, so lonely. Tin can at my feet, I think I'll kick it down the street. That's the way to treat a friend.
Bright before me the signs implore me: Help the needy and show them the way. Human kindness is overflowing, and I think it's gonna rain today.
Bette Midler - Otto Tisling Lyrics
"This next story is a true story. It concerns two of my favorite subjects: industrial theft . . . and-a t-ts! Mmm, what a combo! This is the story . . . The inventor of the modern foundation garment that we women wear today was a German scientist and opera lover by the name of Otto Titsling! This is a true story. His name was Otto Titsling. What happened to Otto Titsling shouldn't happen to a schnauzer. It's a very sad story. I feel I have to share it with you."
Otto Titsling, inventor and kraut, had nothing to get very worked up about. His inventions were failures, his future seemed bleak. He fled to the opera at least twice a week.
One night at the opera he saw an Aida who's t-ts were so big they would often impede her. Bug-eyed he watched her fall into the pit, done in by the weight of those terrible t-ts.
Oh, my god! There she blows! Aerodynamically this bitch was a mess. Otto eyeballed the diva lying comatose amongst the reeds, and he suddenly felt the fire of inspiration flood his soul. He knew what he had to do! He ran back to his workshop where he futzed and futzed and futzed.
For Otto Titsling had found his quest: to lift and mold the female breast; to point the small ones to the sky; to keep the big ones high and dry!
Every night he'd sweat and snort searching for the right support. He tried some string and paper clips. Hey! He even tried his own two lips!
Well, he stitched and he slaved and he slaved and he stitched until finally one night, in the wee hours of morning, Otto arose from his workbench triumphant. Yes! He had invented the worlds first over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder. Hooray!
Exhausted but ecstatic he ran down the street to the diva's house bearing the prototype in his hot little hand. Now, the diva did not want to try the darn thing on. But, after many initial misgivings, she finally did. And the sigh of relief that issued forth from the diva's mouth was so loud that it was mistaken by some to be the early onset of the Siroccan Winds which would often roll through the Schwarzwald with a vengeance! Ahhhhh-i!
But little did Otto know, at the moment of his greatest triumph, lurking under the diva's bed was none other than the very worst of the French patent thieves, Philippe DeBrassiere. And Phil was watching the scene with a great deal of interest!
Later that night, while our Brun Hilda slept, into the wardrobe Philippe softly crept. He fumbled through knickers and corsets galore, 'til he found Otto's titsling and he ran out the door.
Crying, "Oh, my god! What joy! What bliss! I'm gonna make me a million from this! Every woman in the world will wanna buy one. I can have all the goods manufactured in Taiwan."
"Oh, thank you!"
The result of this swindle is pointedly clear: Do you buy a titsling or do you buy a brassiere?
"Ohhh! Thank you!"
Bette Midler - I Know You by Lyrics
[B:] Everybody wants to find a love, somebody, somebody who will always care. But we get locked up in our own worlds, with feelings and secrets we're afraid to share.
[D:] But all I have to do is see you smile, or maybe, just maybe if I brush your hand; something happens I cannot explain, and somehow, oh somehow I can understand.
[D:] I, I think you're gonna find . . . [B:] I'm gonna find you. I'm gonna find you . . .
[B&D:] I know you by heart. You're so much a part of me. I know you by heart. [D:] Can't you see?
[B&D:] It's no wonder I can love you the way that I do. I can finish any sentence you start. Woah, I know you, I know you by heart.
[D:] I know every time you wanna call, I pick up the phone before it can ring. [B:] And when you need some lovin', I'll be there beside you, anticipating everything.
[D:] Oh, it's like I always said . . . [B:] You're the one I want. And all I want is you. [D:] . . . I'm inside your head.
[B&D:] I know you by heart. [D:] You're so much a part of me. [B&D:] I know you by heart. [B:] Can't you see?
[B&D:] It's no wonder I can love you the way that I do. I can finish any sentence you start. Hey, woah, I know you by heart. [D:] I know you by heart.
[B&D:] So much a part of me. It's no wonder I love you the way that I do. I can finish any sentence you start. I know you, I know you by heart.
I know you by heart. So much a part of me. I know you by heart. So much a part of me.
I know you by heart. So much a part of me. I know you by heart. Yeah, I know you by heart. You're so much a part of me. So much a part of me. I know you by heart. You're so much a part of me . . .
Bette Midler - The Glory of Love Lyrics
"This is a song I've been singing for a long time. It's like an old friend. But, you know, I think it, it's only recently that I discovered what it's really about."
You've got to give a little, take a little, and let your poor heart break a little. That's the story of, that's the glory of love.
You've got to laugh a little, cry a little, until the clouds roll by a little. That's the story of, that's the glory of love.
As long as there's the two of us, we've got the world and all it's charms. And when the world is through with us, we've got each other's arms.
You've got to win a little, lose a little, yes, and always have the blues a little. That's the story of, that's the glory of love. That's the story of, that's the glory of love.
Bette Midler - Baby Mine Lyrics
Baby mine, don't you cry. Baby mine, dry your eyes. Rest your head close to my heart, never to part, baby of mine.
Little one, when you play, pay no heed what they say. Let your eyes sparkle and shine, never a tear, baby of mine.
If they knew all about you, they'd end up loving you, too. All those same people who scold you, what they'd give just for the right to hold you.
From your hair down to your toes, you're not much, goodness knows. But, you're so precious to me, sweet as can be, baby of mine.
Bette Midler - Oh Industry Lyrics
I am the captain and this is my shrine. Lord of the manor. See what I leave behind. River in flames, cities on fire. Yes, I'm a relic trapped in the wire.
Hydrogen fuel, it burns so clean, throbs in the veins; a mother lovin' machine. She is my wife. Her mechanical heart constantly serving 'til death do us part.
Now a glorious war draws to a close. The yellow winds blow. And I have to know. Oh industry, whatever will become of me? Soon the cruel rains will start. Is it true we must part company? Oh industry, whatever will become of me? What have I ever done? Where did I go wrong?
Joined at the hip; pain, hunger and I, leave our gift to the world 'neath the phosphorous sky. A labor of love is the truest of all. But will I be forsaken after the fall?
Now a glorious war draws to a close. The yellow winds blow. And I have to know. Oh industry, whatever will become of me? Nothing after the flood but the fire and the mud's prophecy. Oh industry, whatever will become of me? Of me?
Industry, charity, faith, hope. Industry, charity, faith, hope. Industry, charity, faith, hope. Industry, charity, faith, hope. Industry, charity, faith, hope . . .
